Q. My Online Status is showing me Offline but I am actually Online
A. Be sure to make your Screen Name visible to all people in your Privacy Settings. If you have it so that only friends on your list can see you online then your FameTag will not see you online. If you have just changed this setting allow some time for the FameTag to find you online.

Q. I've changed my personal avatar but it's not changing on my Fame Tag
A. We cache avatars and buddy icons so it may take up to 48 hrs for it to update.

Q. Why is my AIM Buddy Icon not appearing?
A. Try refreshing the page that your Fame Tag is displayed on. If you still do not see your Buddy Icon try selecting the Buddy Icon in AIM again or picking a different Buddy Icon in AIM.

Q. Why is my Yahoo! avatar not appearing?
A. Try refreshing the page that your Fame Tag is displayed on. If you still do not see your avatar try creating a new one in Yahoo! Messenger.

Q. Why is my MSN Display Pic not appearing?
A. Try refreshing the page that your Fame Tag is displayed on. Although you may have chosen a Display Pic from within MSN Messenger the only way for it to appear on your Fame Tag is to set the Display Pic on your Live Space Profile. Q. Why does my FameTag looks broken up or distorted on my person web space?
A. If you do not see the tag as it looks after you have created it on our website, try making the FameTag once again. Its possible that we have since corrected the issue as we are always updating the Code Generator to avoid conflicts with existing layout features. If this does not correct the problem keep checking back to see if it works. You can also email us at fametags@gmail.com with specific details of the problem and the URL you are using the FameTag at an we will try to address the issue.

Q. Is there a way to make this work with any other chat programs?
A. At this time AIM (AOL Instant Messenger), Yahoo Messenger and MSN Messenger are the only chat clients that we are working with. If we get a large enough demand for another chat client we will consider adding support.

Q. What is the "<style> .fametags .fametags .fametags . . . . " code for
A. The code in between the <style></style> tags is to properly assign color, size and other attributes to the images and text inside of your FameTag. It also keeps other style codes from altering the FameTag. This code will not disrupt any of your existing layout features. If you are using more than one FameTag on the same page this code only needs to appear once, so it will not hurt to remove it from additional FameTag codes.

Q. Can I make my own FameTag theme?
A.You can use our Custom FameTag Tool by clicking "Custom" at the top of this page.

If you have the proper tools and experience you can create your own 300x100 graphic yourself and modify the FameTag code to look for your custom image. If you look at the code for the "YAHOO! WINDOW" theme you will find the text "http://www.fametags.com/images/tags/yim.jpg" which you can replace with a URL to your own 300x100 image.

This theme makes it clear as to where the buddy icon and the Screen Name data go so that you know what areas to make clear when creating your 300x100 image. You will want to use a white or very light background in this data area because the image we use for Online Status is black text.

Currently we only offer the one type of "Online" / "Offline" images but if you've created your own and would like to have it posted here for others to use just email it to us.
